Journey to a world of endless possibilities this festive season as Pinocchio comes to life in the iconic Globe Theatre for the premiere of a magical, unmissable new musical for the whole family by Charlie Josephine and Jim Fortune.

Dreaming of a life beyond the confines of his traditional town, restless maverick Gepetto carves a wooden puppet and calls him Pinocchio. Together, they embark on a series of adventures with a host of weird and wonderful characters as they teach each other how to love and build a community of their own.

In the embrace of the wooden ‘O’ of the Globe Theatre, itself lovingly carved from a thousand oak trees, experience this unforgettable story of self-discovery, freedom and family, and share in the wonder of what it means to be human.

A surprising, funny and heartfelt new musical for ages 5+ with book and lyrics by Charlie Josephine (I, Joan, Globe; Cowbois, RSC/ Royal Court), and music and lyrics by Jim Fortune (Mr Gum and the Dancing Bear, Hex, National). Globe Associate Artistic Director Sean Holmes (Romeo and Juliet; The Merry Wives of Windsor, Globe) directs.

Shakespeare’s Globe Best Seats and Seating Plan

A living piece of theatre history: Shakespeare’s Globe is a faithful 1997 reconstruction of the original 1599 Elizabethan playhouse, realised through Sam Wanamaker’s vision, offering an open-air, immersive way to experience Shakespeare as it was originally staged.
Seating and experience: With space for around 1,570 people, audiences can stand in the Yard for the most authentic groundling experience or choose bench seating in the Lower, Middle or Upper Galleries, each offering different balances of comfort, proximity and view.
Accessibility and programming: The Globe provides step-free and wheelchair-accessible seating, relaxed and accessible performances, and a year-round programme of Shakespeare’s classics, new adaptations and educational events in both the open-air theatre and the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse.

Shakespeare’s Globe is one of the most iconic theatres in the world, a stunning recreation of the original Elizabethan playhouse where William Shakespeare’s plays were first performed. The original Globe Theatre, built in 1599, was tragically destroyed by fire in 1613 when a theatrical cannon misfired during a performance of Henry VIII - talk about bringing the house down! The theatre was rebuilt in 1614 but later demolished in 1644 during the Puritan rule.

The modern Shakespeare’s Globe, which stands proudly on London’s Bankside today, was the dream of American actor and director Sam Wanamaker. His vision led to the theatre’s reconstruction, which was completed in 1997. Faithfully designed to reflect the original 16th-century playhouse, it features a circular, open-air structure, wooden benches, and the famous standing area known as the Yard. Today, Shakespeare’s Globe continues to bring the Bard’s works to life in an authentic, immersive setting that transports audiences back in time.
